MMF (with patch cord): Up to 550 meters
Application: Campus networks, metro networks, medium-distance backbone transmission

3. 1000BASE-BX (Bidirectional)
Wavelength:
BX-U (Upstream): TX 1310 nm, RX 1490 nm；TX 1310 nm, RX 1550 nm
BX-D (Downstream): TX 1490 nm, RX 1310 nm；TX 1550 nm, RX 1310 nm
Fiber Type: Single-mode Fiber (SMF), single-strand bidirectional transmission
Distance: 10 km, 20 km, 40 km or longer depending on model
Application: FTTx, fiber-to-the-home/desk/floor scenarios with limited fiber resources
Features:
Transmits and receives over a single fiber strand, saving fiber infrastructure
Must be used in matched pairs (one BX-U and one BX-D)
4. 1000BASE-ZX (Extended Reach)
Wavelength: 1550 nm
Fiber Type: Single-mode Fiber (SMF)
Distance: Typically 70 km; up to 80 km or even 100 km with high-performance models
Application: Long-distance backbone, metropolitan area networks (MAN), carrier networks
Features:
Requires higher optical power transmitters and more sensitive receivers
May need optical attenuators to prevent receiver overload over short distances
