Features of point-to-point fiber media converter access network
● The main advantage of point-to-point fiber is user-specific access, simple user and central office equipment, rich equipment types, and long transmission distance;
● The disadvantage is that because each user occupies one (pair) optical fiber and a pair of media converters alone, users cannot share the backbone optical fiber. In large-scale applications, it is necessary to lay a large number of optical fibers and media converters, and the overall construction cost is relatively high;
● Point-to-point optical access equipment is suitable for private line access users with scattered user distribution, high bandwidth requirements (above 100Mbps) and high security requirements, but for high-density users, areas with low-speed requirements have high costs and cannot become public broadband Mainstream solutions for users;
● Point-to-point optical access equipment can be roughly divided into three categories,Ethernet media converters, PDH media converters and point-to-point optical Ethernet equipment. The most commonly used method is to access broadband users by means of Ethernet fiber media converters.
Features of FTTX PON network access network
● Support the bearer of multiple services such as data, voice, and video;
● High transmission rate, large split ratio, low networking cost, simple network structure, and high system stability;
● The network has strong adaptability, and can respond flexibly when the system function and performance requirements change significantly;
● Strong network expansion performance, enough ports can be reserved for equipment in the early stage of construction, and the cost of later expansion is low;
● Save fiber resources, and flexibly configure the optical division ratio according to the actual situation of the front-end point to maximize the utilization of line resources.
